Site Selection Panel Progresses to Stage 2 in Call for Proposal Process for New Joint Hospital in Kitchener-Waterloo

On behalf of Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital, the Site Selection Panel is pleased to be moving forward in the process to find a location for a proposed new joint hospital in the Kitchener Waterloo area.
In the Call for Land Proposals process announced in October, interested property owners were asked to submit their properties for consideration. A total of five proposals were received by the close date of November 16, 2023.
The Site Selection Panel evaluated all site submissions against the mandatory Stage 1 site selection criteria and have made the decision to shortlist three sites, which will now be moved into Stage 2.
During the next stage of the process, the Panel will assess the three shortlisted sites against the Stage 2 site selection criteria to identify a recommended and alternate site for the proposed new hospital.
The Stage 1 and Stage 2 criteria were developed earlier this year through extensive engagement with the community and technical experts.
The Site Selection Panel looks forward to continuing its work to identify a location for a new joint hospital in the Kitchener Waterloo area.
