Building on decades of partnership and collaboration, Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital have agreed to begin the process of a voluntary merger.

The proposed new organization would operate existing hospital sites and services, while continuing to move forward with our joint Building the Future of Care Together capital redevelopment project.

We believe that coming together is the best approach to address population growth and changing health care needs in our communities. It will provide faster, more modern, improved access to fully integrated, high-quality, efficient care. This innovative approach will remove all structural barriers between our hospitals and leverage our combined strengths as one organization.

We are in the preliminary stages of this evolution in our relationship and many details will be worked out in the months ahead.

Next Steps

We will continue to engage with our patients, communities, teams, partners and donors to gather further input to shape what this new hospital organization will look like and how it will best serve our communities.

We will provide regular community updates on our progress.
