Public Notice: Landowners Interested in Putting Forward Land for the Proposed New Hospital asked to Get Ready for Fall Submission Process

Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital are asking landowners in the region to get ready for a Call for Land process starting this fall.
In March, Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital announced the beginning of the site selection process to identify a site for a proposed new joint hospital in Kitchener-Waterloo. This site selection process is being overseen by the Building the Future of Care Together (BFCT) Committee, a joint subcommittee of the hospitals’ boards comprised of members with broad representation across both hospitals and the Waterloo Region community. The BFCT Committee reports into the Boards of Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital, each of which are comprised of dedicated community members.
A five-member Site Selection Panel made up of skilled professionals who will make a site recommendation to the BFCT Committee and Boards recently consulted with the community, hospital teams, partners, municipalities, and subject matter experts on the draft site selection criteria that will be finalized and used by the Panel as it evaluates potential sites.
As a next step in the Panel’s work, the hospitals will be issuing a Call for Land for the identification of a site in the fall.
The first phase of the Call for Land process will ask landowners to submit basic information about their site, including its size, location, and characteristics.
Interested landowners are encouraged to consult the Building the Future of Care Together website at https://futureofcaretogether.ca to get more information about the criteria that will be used to evaluate potential sites.
What will the Call for Proposals include? Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital will be welcoming landowners to submit their sites for consideration. Prior to submitting their proposals, proponents will be encouraged to carefully review the final site selection criteria contained in the Call.
