Redevelopment: The Future of St. Mary’s
22 May 2024
As a member of the St. Joseph’s Health System (SJHS), St. Mary’s has been a pillar of care in Kitchener-Waterloo for 100 years. When the new, hospital site opens, the current St. Mary’s location will cease to function as an acute care hospital. What does this mean for the future of Catholic Care in Waterloo Region? And what will happen to the physical building and land? Working alongside the merger and building work, St. Joseph’s is engaging with: KW4OHT members; municipal and regional leaders; SJHS member organizations, partners and teams; residential and housing services; Catholic and faith-based community groups; health and social care providers; and regional service providers.
Through intentional engagements, SJHS is looking to identify opportunities for redeveloping the St. Mary’s site, while continuing its legacy of compassionate care and collaboration. Through this work, SJHS will build on and carry forward the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph’s through faith-based care in Waterloo Region.
